Average Rate of Gain
Average Daily Rate of Gain
Lambs .7 lbs per day to reach ideal market weight of 130 lbs
Swine 1.8 lbs per day to reach ideal market weight of 260 lbs
Beef 2.5 lbs per day to reach ideal market weight of 1250 lbs
EXAMPLE
If the show is August 3rd and today is June1st, you have 63 days before the Show. Lets say your lamb weighs 75 lbs.
If your Lamb gains at the average rate of .7lbs per day then by August 3rd it will have gain = 44lbs which equals 119lbs.
119lbs is below the ideal weight So. . . . . . .
You will need to implement some practices to increase the daily rate of gain. You need to increse the rate of gain to .87 lbs per day. .87lbs x 63 days = 54.8 lbs
54.8 lbs + 75lbs = 129.8lbs
