Become a Volunteer Leader

Why Volunteer?

  • 4-H is FUN!
  • Most people volunteer for 4-H because they enjoy working with kids.
  • To make a positive contribution to youth.
  • So that a young person's future can be shaped in the positive environment of 4-H, recognizing that young people are the future.
  • To obtain training from USU Extension in youth and leadership development.
  • For your personal development in skill areas pertaining to projects, leadership, teaching, and organization.

Becoming a 4-H club leader is an immensely rewarding volunteer experience. Children need caring, supportive adults in their lives.  We invite you to be that special adult for your club members.

To become a 4-H club leader, you need to complete the following steps.

  1. Read the Volunteer Application Packet and complete a 4-H Volunteer Application.  Submit your application to: Morgan County 4-H, 48 West Young Street, UT 84050, (801) 829-3472
  2. You will be interviewed by a 4-H staff member. Your application will be reviewed and a background screening conducted.
  3. Attend New 4-H Club Leader Orientation. This is a mandatory, One and 1/2 -hour orientation that must be completed before you can become a 4-H club leader.

Once you have successfully completed the background screening process and attended New 4-H Club Leader Orientation, you are an official 4-H club leader and can begin your service.

Although New 4-H Club Leader Orientation is the only training required, it merely provides the basics of being a 4-H club leader.  All leaders are strongly encouraged to complete 4-H Core Training during their first year as a club leader!

Remember, no previous experience is necessary, just the desire to have fun and learn together as a club.
